Descriptor English: Immune Complex Diseases
Descriptor Spanish: Enfermedades del Complejo Inmune
Descriptor enfermedades por complejos inmunes
Entry term(s) hipersensibilidad tipo III

RDF Unique Identifier: https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D007105
Scope note: Group of diseases mediated by the deposition of large soluble complexes of antigen and antibody with resultant damage to tissue. Besides SERUM SICKNESS and the ARTHUS REACTION, evidence supports a pathogenic role for immune complexes in many other IMMUNE SYSTEM DISEASES including GLOMERULONEPHRITIS, systemic lupus erythematosus (LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS, SYSTEMIC) and POLYARTERITIS NODOSA.
Annotation: disease caused by deposition of antigen-antibody complexes with resultant damage to tissue; "immune complex" = IMMUNE COMPLEX see ANTIGEN-ANTIBODY COMPLEX
